Lighthouse ArtCenter Showcase of Artists

Our art is still hanging at the Lighthouse ArtCenter for another week. You can see my post about it here. For their July third Thursday event, they invited the winners of the show to speak about their art.




WAS member Lindy May spoke about how her art has evolved over the years. She won for her piece titled "Spring Explosion."


Lindy described how she was first inspired to create her twisted trunk trees. She started with copper leaves, but after making a few of them realized her hands didn't like working with the sharp medal. She came up with the idea to make ceramic leaves, and now uses upwards of a dozen glazes on the leaves. She brought a few more examples of her art, that she passed around the room. Her art looks so delicate, it was fun getting the chance to actually handle it and touch it.


The Lighthouse ArtCenter always throws a good party. They offered passed hors d'oeuvres and wine. About 60 people attended for this last opportunity to see the art. The Art of Association show is over on July 26.
