Here are some more paintings that are currently on display at the Wellington Community Center.

These three are mixed media pieces by Ursula Fernandez called "1920's Bathers." They are each 16" x 12", $200.

New Art at the Wellington Community Center

The Wellington Art Society has displayed its members' artwork at the Wellington Community Center for many years. It used to be at the upper level in that was called the "Card Room." Now we are hanging the art in the hallways of the ground floor. We have much more room to hang more paintings. We are pleased that quite a few of our new members have submitted art for this 3-month show. Here is some of their artwork.

"Wine" is an oil painting by Carl Maxwell. It is 29" x 25 1/2".

 

Art Reception for City Hall Artists

One evening during the four-month Wellington City Hall shows, artists may invite their friends and family to see their artwork. We recently held our reception for the current art, and it was well attended.

Sandra Barbieri's Art Comes to Whole Foods Market

Artist Sandra Barbieri is currently showing her mixed media artwork in the cafe at Whole Foods Market in Wellington. A self-taught artist, Sandra combines painting and rich 3D elements to bring beauty which creates energy. Below is her painting called "Awareness." It is 36" x 36".

City Hall Art Reception March 25

I've been showing you the artwork at our current City Hall display for the past week now. But there's nothing like seeing it in person! We will be hosting a reception in honor of these artists on Tuesday, March 25, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The reception is open to the public, so please stop by and see the wonderful artwork by these amazing artists. Here are a few more pieces that are on display.

"The Overseer" is an acrylic painting by Betty Brodie. It is 24" x 20", $450.

City Hall Gallery, Continued

As I continue with my virtual tour of the Wellington City Hall gallery, I will present you with some watercolor paintings done by our artists. Our first artist is Donna Donelan. Look at how beautiful the frame looks with her "Autumn Leaves." This is 16" x 12".

More Oil Paintings at City Hall

Our artists create in many mediums, but we have quite a few who paint in oil. I showed you Joanne Baker MacLeod's oil paintings in my last post about the current City Hall show. Here are a few more artists who paint in oil as well. Their artwork is on display on the first and second floors of the Wellington City Hall, through the Spring. The City Hall is located at 12300 W. Forest Hill Blvd., Wellington.

Stop by the Wellington City Hall to see our latest gallery showing of our members' artwork. This artwork will remain through the Spring. Some of it is on the ground floor, but most is on the second, so be sure to tell the front desk you're going up to see the art.

Artist Reception for Pat Kaufman

Last Friday we celebrated the artwork of Pat Kaufman, who currently has a solo show of her artwork at Whole Foods Market in Wellington. Whole Foods provided the food, drinks, and music, and Pat provided the wonderful artwork for us to enjoy. A new gallery has opened, and WAS member Brigitte Balbinot is showing her artwork there. The Suzanne Connors gallery is located in Northwood in West Palm Beach. Here are a few of her pieces:

Continuum: A Pop-up Gallery on Clematis

Local art professionals Anthony Burks, Trina Slade-Burks, and Craig McInnis put together a fabulous pop-up art gallery at 312 Clematis in West Palm Beach, called Continuum. Showing the artwork of 27 local artists, including Wellington Art Society members Ilene Adams and Roehl Acosta, this gallery will only exist until February 8.

Joanne Baker MacLeod Wins at the LWAL

WAS member Joanne Baker MacLeod recently won 2nd Place in the current Lake Worth Art League show for her oil painting "River Bend Path." Congratulations, Joanne!

Come on out to ArtFest on the Green

The Wellington Art Society's 8th Annual Fine Art and Fine Craft show, ArtFest on the Green, will be at the Wellington Amphitheater today and tomorrow. Beautiful weather, music on the stage, and almost 50 artists will make for an amazing weekend. I'd like to tell you about one of the artists who will be selling and showing her artwork, Deb LaFogg Docherty.

 

Artist Trading Cards -- Winter

Artists like to try new techniques. They always want to be creating. At the Wellington Art Society, I introduced the group to Artist Trading Cards. ATCs are a great way to try a new technique and to see what others are doing. They are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" mini works of art. Because they are small, it's easy to try something new. And because you are trading them with others, and making one for everyone, you have a chance to perfect that technique. Especially when you're making about a dozen. ATCs are usually done on paper or cardstock, but I've seen them made on acrylic, metal, and fabric. The great part is that you can use whatever you want. And embellish them any way you want. There is no judgment, because it's not art you're trying to sell. You are just trading them with other artists. You make one for them and they give you one in return. In the end, you get a pretty nice collection of ATCs, showcasing the artwork of your friends.

We occasionally meet to trade ATCs. We usually pick a theme for the cards, simply to help you get some ideas rolling. And we always go out to dinner to do our trading. It's a nice excuse to get together for a social night out. Last week we traded ATCs with a Winter theme. We stretch that theme a bit, since we've been getting mostly 80-degree weather this Winter in Florida. We can still dream of snowmen and snowflakes through our art.

Marie Lentine layers many papers and words in a nice collage technique. She collects inspirational words and goes through her files to see which words work best.

Virtual Art Show

At any given time, the Wellington Art Society has 50 - 100 artworks hanging in the walls of Wellington city buildings. Many are at the City Hall, and many are in the Community Center. The ground floor of the Community Center is where you'll find these paintings that I'm going to show you today. My photos aren't as great as seeing them in person, so be sure and stop by the Community Center when you can. For now, here's a virtual art show for your viewing pleasure.

More City Hall Art

Last week we had a reception for the artists whose work is currently on display at Wellington City Hall. The artwork hangs for four months, and we have a reception about mid-way through. The receptions are open to the public, so it's a great opportunity to see the art and ask questions of the artists.

Summer's Over -- Did You Miss These Shows?

After three months without membership meetings, we kicked off the new season with a lively welcome back to our members at our September Open House. We don't take time off from displaying our members' art, though. We had quite a few wonderful art exhibits this summer, and in case you missed them, I'm going to post some of the artwork here in the next few weeks.

First of all, one of our longest-running exhibits is our display of artwork at the City of Wellington's Community Center. We're all familiar with that space, because that is where we hold our monthly meetings. This artwork is located in the Card Room, and is seen by many groups who use that room as well as the large Grand Cypress Room for their meetings and events.
