Art Around Town -- OSGS in Northwood

Have you been around Palm Beach County and noticed that there are a lot of opportunities for artists to display their work? Our members have certainly been getting out and getting noticed. We recently heard of a new gallery that opened in the Northwood area of West Palm Beach. It's called OSGS, and it's located at 500 Northwood Rd. It is the brainchild of Jonathon Ortiz-Smylka, who is an amazing artist in his own right. I guess he figured, the best way to display his art is to do it himself. The rest of the art world benefits with the opening of this gallery in the heart of the busy Northwood area.

They recently had their grand opening, and three of our members are exhibiting their art pieces there. First, let me show you the interior of the gallery.

As you can see, there are places for 2D and 3D artwork. He also has a glass case for smaller sculptures. Here are some glass pieces by WAS members Sheree Blum-Cuthbert and Gail Erickson.

Here is a close-up of one of Sheree's glass pieces.

Gail also has bigger pieces on pedestals.

Molly Aubry is showing a few of her paintings in OSGS. Here is a sneak preview.

As I said, Jonathon Ortiz-Smylka is quite an artist. Here is one of his pieces.

Another one of his pieces is in the foreground, and you can see more of his gallery in the background.

Jonathon also offers custom framing at his gallery. The gallery hours are 10:00 - 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, or by appointment at 561-833-2223. The last Friday of every month, the Northwood Village Association hosts its Art & Wine Promenade from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., and the next one is March 29. OSGS will be participating, and will be kicking off their BYOC (Bring Your Own Chair) lecture series. In this series, they will be inviting some of their artists to speak about their process and how their art has developed. The future dates of the lecture series will be announced later. If you'd like to hear more about OSGS, please visit their facebook page.

Stop by this blog tomorrow when I tell you about another new gallery, Art on Park in Lake Park.
